DELVAUX’s newly opened boutique in the Upper East Side became the setting for trompe l’oeil effects and surreal perspectives last Tuesday night, when it welcomed honourable guests for the opening night of a unique Magritte exhibition.
Co-hosted with the Magritte Foundation, the exhibition celebrates rare inedited artworks by René Magritte, Belgium’s legendary surrealist artist. Five artworks that have never previously been exhibited - L’océan, Le bain de cristal, La trahison des images, Le bouquet tout fait and Le tombeau des lutteurs – are on display at the newly inaugurated American flagship on Fifth Avenue until the 24th of May.
DELVAUX Chairman and CEO Jean-Marc Loubier, along with the Magritte Foundation President, Charly Herscovici, greeted guests for the exclusive opening, introducing them to an evening of Belgian surrealism and special surprises.
The exhibition marks a further milestone in the unique and longstanding partnership between DELVAUX and the Magritte Foundation. Following on from partnerings for major Magritte restrospectives in Paris and San Francisco, and a new Magritte handbag collection, this event is testament to the complicity and enduring alliance of these two emblematic Belgian houses.
